Donor Programmes

Egg Donation

A noble donation for the happiness of others:

Though sperm donation is not a new concept, Egg donation in India is most certainly new. A fertile woman, whose ovary releases an egg at timely intervals, can donate the egg to infertile couples and help fulfill their dreams of becoming parents. Women are encouraged to donate eggs to help couples with infertility problems.

When is it done?

We recommend egg donation if you are unable to conceive with your own eggs. This could be because:

  •  You have no ovaries or have had them removed
  •  You have had cancer treatment which has damaged your ovaries
  •  You are post-menopausal
  •  You are producing few or low-quality eggs
  •  You have repeatedly tried to conceive unsuccessfully using fertility drugs or IVF
  •  You have had several recurrent miscarriages
  •  You have a high risk of passing on a serious inherited disorder

In such cases, we pursue pregnancy with donated eggs and your partner’s (or a donor’s sperm), through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) or Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). The developing embryos are then transferred into your womb.

Egg donation is not as simple as sperm donation, but it is an easy process that demands some amount of commitment from the donor. Egg donors must also meet criteria laid down by the Indian law.

Who can donate?

Before a woman can donate her eggs, she will be screened thoroughly with tests such as an ultrasound of her reproductive system, a pelvic exam, blood tests, psychological screening and a complete review of her medical history. We keep a record her physical characteristics to help us match her eggs to you and your partner. We would also share pertinent information with you, which includes her religion, marital status, age, complexion and so on.

If you are a donor, remember, you have the power to change someone’s life.
